BAsed off a 2D game. My buddy and I decided to make a online version, based years after the game(Created by him) But there are some ideas we have but not sure how to balance, or work them out. If they can even be done in VBgore that is. WOuld like input and ideas for programming it.

BAsically the whole game is a war Humans vrs the undead

Ideas
1:When a humn is killed by a zombie he joins the ranks of the undead. To try and kill of the humans

Pros: Good ideas to have infection system
Cons: Soonier or later all the humans will be zombies.

2:When a human is killed by a zombie the human respawn still a human but his corpse turns into a zombie.

Pros: Ice effects give more realism
Cons: To many zombies could happen and coding might be hard.

3:Have everyone start off as Humans then turn if killed by NPC

Cons: Same as #1

just a few ideas still working on details

Of course vbGORE would be able to handle it. :)

I like the idea of #2 the most by far. Rarely in an online RPG you will permanently alter a character for dieing for the worse. Its going to result in a bunch of players who are too paranoid to go fight anything hard, and very pissed off if they do die.

As fun as it would be seeing yourself undead when going back to your spawning point:
- It simply makes no sense, since you die but now have 2 bodies
- If the zombie was anything like your character stat-wise, it could be abused to make "death traps" in lower-level areas

If you do that, I would recommend you make them equally as strong, if not weaker, then the zombie that killed them. If you make them equally as strong, anyone who dies by a boss or anything of the sort would be too strong. You could just leave them there as kinda a "fun, but useless" feature. :)

Why not just have it reset after all the zombies are killed? Then just keep a neat little stat -
Zombies - 1
Humans - 0

If humans kill all the zombies
Zombies 1
Humans - 1


WHICH WILL PREVAIL? :o

Of course don't reset players skills/stats. Just the state of the game? Dunno ;p


haha, just throwin that out there. Dunno if it sounds interesting or not.

Reminds me of the Zombie Mod on CS:Source.

In a 2D game? Sounds interesting.

In the place of re-animating the play himself, why not just create another instance of the zombie npc and respawn the player.

If Player = Dies Then ZombieCount = ZombieCount + 1
RespawnPlayer
End If

Of course, the map the zombie respawned on would have to be totally random as well as have a cap for the amount of zombies server wide.

20 npcs per map * 500 maps = 10,000 Zombies vs. 50 players? They'd have to be pretty weak and mindless zombies. 8)

Or a feasible idea - Perhaps at random times, allow a rescue team to give out cures to random zombies in an immediate zone (How about a airplane drops a large amount of spray), they all turn into humans (NPCs and PCs what not...).. I think it works out fine, that way you can remain as a Zombie - or choose to be cured into a human

okay, to the 1/3 idea.
to avoid everyone becoing zombies invent something to heal them.
like they can try getting holy water or something and turn back human :lol:

i think that ncp's should be able to choose to respawn as a zombie or a human but must always start off as human keeping the numbers level

Looks like fun. I might be working on a B-movie inspired zombie RPG with some friends too. Yours seems much more ambitious though. Good luck if you follow through with it!

Or just add a one-use and one-per-person item that immunes the player from changing into a zombie when killed.

if killed without the item, the player will turn into a temporary zombie until the effects are "up", which can be a long long time, or until he kills and curses another player. Well, just create a creative reason for that.
