 Post subject: How do I connect to mySQL?

OK...I beleive I downloaded everyything and excuted vbGore from the dump and all that...but lol how do you run mySQL 5.0?

If you've done everything on the guide, MySQL should already be running. MySQL is a service that runs in the background.

If MySQL isn't running, you just need to go into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and find it and start it (also tell it to start automaticly)

its a database, it stores information. and you can edit data

well then...I don't know what I'm doing wrong...I get an error message saying it isn't conected.

No. Your password can be whatever you want. The password you use in the Server.ini file and SQLyog is the password you use in the MySQL Instance Config.

Also...when I press Contol+Alt+Delete....the onley thing that shows of MySQL is the gui log thing. Is that right?

No, you should see mysqld-nt.exe. Did you install MySQL and run the instance config?

yes I did...It also says it running in my administrative tools.

Then it is probably running, you just may not be able to see it if you are not on an administrator account.

Well I think this is the administrative account....but anyway....still not working... I don't know what the problem is. Lol I think you should use MySQL. But....ya any other sudgestions to get it working?
