Mad!

I think you should ditch the whole clinical aspect in your art, and work more ad-hoc. My theory is that there are two different types of artists, there's the clinical type (like me) who pay a lot of attention to detail and line art (micro), however there are other artist that work much better painting straight on to the canvas looking at the big picture (macro).

With the blossoms/sky they look really good, however the branches and falling leaves/snow? are not so good as they look unnatural. Also the placement of everything, the clusters of blossoms (theres a big heap in the middle, but not much on the outside), and how each leaf is equally spaced apart, again adds to the unnaturalness, although i think this might be because you tried to be too clinical. Next time just try and look at the big picture, and try and be a little less calculated, especially with nature paintings. I think you definitely have some talent in that area, and you are much more of a "big picture" person, just by looking at the cherry blossoms and the blue background. I have tried quite a few times to get my art like that but never could, im much more of a technical drawer. Although you have inspired me to give it another go.

Overall well done.

I don't know if the thing in the bottom left corner is your signature or what not, but it's kind of obnoxious and an eye-sore for me. The painting itself is good though, not bad for a first time.

Yeah, I messed up badly on it. The red is my name in chinese -done by a ... friend... ish. - and then the graphite is my sig, but i didnt have a thin paintbrush so i tried to break the tip of the pencil and use it with the paint... not the best idea I've had.

Thanks for the comments, I'll be sure to post my next pic up taking all your suggestions into consideration.

I really like the painting, but yeah, the signature takes up the whole bottom left corner.

It should be like a tenth of its size.
