 Post subject: Very first time drawing pixels.

Well, i just got into this stuff today, and decided to try and draw 3 tiles for tilesets, as an experiment. I know there horrible ^^ Any tips, advice, and techniques you can share would be great~

A water one, a transition between water and land,
and just a steel floor plate wachamacallit...thingy.. Yeah.

The water doesn't really look like water, but hey, that's not bad for your first attempt. You just gotta think of the big picture. It's a lot easier to get a big canvas, and make a whole shore, THEN divide it into 32x32 squares. That way you know they are going to fit when they are side by side. Another thing would be to get some tilesets of water/shore and open them in paint, zoom in, and see how they are pixeled. It looks a lot different, and also you can possibly learn something by examine how they made it. Practice, practice, practice, and when you've just about got it, practice some more.

To make water look nice, use a smudge function that comes with erm, anything you can scrape up, and smudge the light blue lines to blend in with the dark blue. After that add white spots for water reflection. Thats all I can say so far. The smudge function can be used for sand too.
