So I have access to a debian server. Is it at all possible to host the vbgore server on it?

Most likely not. vbGORE uses VB6, which is Windows-only. It has a hard time even supporting modern releases of Windows since VB6 is such an obsolete language. NetGore, however, supports many different OSes.

I was considering NetGore for my project but its still new and I need a solid framework. I'll just see if I can get a Windows server. Plus I know VB alot better than C#.

semi necro with relevant info.
i did a bunch of testing with this a while ago. client can run great in WINE on linux, server cant. dont remember the specifics but the failure had something to do with VB6 not playing well with odbc under WINE so the server crashed every attempt to connect to the mysql server. i think the initial query or response was getting malformed. if you were inclined to rewrite the database sections to use something not requiring odbc to make a connection you should be gold.
