Hi i have the ninjastory source and i have been looking around at it and i would really like to do something with this. So my question is if i wanted to start programming a multiplayer game then where would you start, like what books to read so on.

The ninjastory engine is a donation perk thus not many people have it / use it. If you really have no clue where to start I suggest mucking around with vbgore awhile since they are similar.

Not that I know of I learned by messing with vbgore and seeing how others did it.

if you are really interested in doing stuff right, 2 suggestions:

-have an installation of vbgore to "play" with for a few months...really helpful.
-know exactly how you want to have all features work before you start ;)

game design is a little more important here, if you ask me.

They may they may not, i'd say its a similar framework, it wouldn't hurt to try i guess. You would need to understand the code that your leeching in tho, because you would have to know the bits which go and don't go in, or need to go somewhere else.

what he was trying to say (I assume)

Every time I check the forums some post from you makes me wanna.... bleh xD
You are commuicating with PEOPLE here.
Some professional, some novice.

I say you study around the vbGORE engine.
Even if it is not too simialar, its the same coder.
Goresock and the grh system were applied to ninja story AND vbGORE...
give yourself 1-2 months playing in vbgore,
then head over to play with ninjastory for some time ;)

I was thinking about this for a while, and would be interesting if you try this. It will take some work though: Take the vbgore engine, and make it look like its a sidescroller. Just disable the up/down key. Add gravity (just an auto pulldown from the up key). Ninjastory with a MUCh bigger communitty.

1. no way, 2. dont listen to him, 3. use ninjasory as a base as it is a sidescroller engine.

are youassuming he can do this better than spodi did?
we are speaking to a beginner who wants to learn how to start
