Alright,

my host is basicly saying he can give a dedicated line to the project. Meaning we get MySQL service for this project. Another good, is that this server will be up for a year If We Dont Take Up Too Much Server Space And Bog Down His Network

i went to alot of trouble getting this service for free, for the community. And all i ask in return is that we make some slight modifications to the MySQL module, and make communication between the client and the server , more space efficent and network efficent.

Now , i dont have alot of experience running VbGORE on a server with 1,000's of players so i dont necessary know if my topic is a problem. If not, let me know , and well remove this from the tasks.

the sql usage is almost nothing...
what people want hosted is the server application i'm guessing, are you just offering the sql service or both?

Im offering the server application up, and the Sql Service,

here are the requirements for the application:

their must be no visible sign of the application being present, send to the toolbar below on the desktop if necessary.

Ill tell my host, theirs a big chance we will probably get this offer now that you said the usage is nothing.

Mysql is only really used at these times:
Opening of the server / client.
Closing of the server / client.
Timed Interval set inside of the server / client.
Or an Action/Command that uses mysql which is set inside of the server / client.

Its not like a website where its used all the time or there are thousands of people at once signing on and off and really your game / server won't get that many people. If it does then hell it must be a really good game and you deserve a pat on the back.

So you shouldn't really have a problem with overloading the mysql server with queries and or connections. So the network should be fine.

I bet my old Compaq 633MHz processor with 350 MB RAM connected to dial-up could host it just fine. Hell, even that may be overkill. :P

and honestly if you are hosting the server and the sql service then there is no bandwidth usage if it is on the same server.

I'm not sure if i'd say there is hardly a presence from the server though if like you said the application is being hosted too. I know spodi did his best to keep bandwidth down but it truly just depends on the amount of players.

Ok i think nex666 is doing the hosting now, so this thread is no longer an issue nor problem, if it is its up to nex666.
