Universal Worlds

From VbGORE Visual Basic Online RPG Engine

Universal Worlds is a free 2D, muti-player, online game, created by 'Gaming World Developers'. Its been created using the game engine, vbGORE. The game manly focussing on its game play, rather than its graphics, and that's what makes it different from so many other games. Other online games tended to focus on flash 3D graphics, that supposedly make people want to play there game. Those 3D graphics usually come with some good Game Player, but after a few weeks, players usually get tired of the same old stuff, and play another online game. We totally focus on creating unlimited hours of Game Play for our players, so that they do come back for more, all the time.

[edit] History

Luke Reynolds (Tayuke) has always wanted to make a online game, and when he found out about Online Game Making engines, he started to plan his great game, called 'Universal Worlds'. On December the 1st, 2005, Tayuke officially started to plan out 'Universal Worlds', and started to hunt down the best online game making engine. By March 2006, most of the main plans had been finished a School Music Camp. However, he also decided to change the game's name to 'Universal Online'.

In June that same year, Tayuke had decided to use an open-source called 'd-bugged', to start building his own custom engine to make UO. When most of the coding was finished, and a BETA was ready for a selected few, Tayuke started 'Universal Online's' First Closed BETA, on the 15th of Augest, 2005.

By September the 9th however, although after a lot of fun and enjoyment by players and developers of UO, they were running into WAY too many in-game, and program errors. And with the website crashed, after the website host shut down so sunndely, Tayuke halted UO's BETA for a few months, while he got everything back together again.

Soon after, Tayuke set a date for the new BETA of Universal Online: The 1st of December, 2006, the 1st Birthday of the project. Tayuke worked as hard as possible, by getting a new website and forum open, redoing some stuff with the engine, and making sure everything else was ready for the big day. he also got help from a good friend of his, Eagle0600, which took over all the graphics involved in UO. With the help, everything was set for a great 2nd BETA.

On the 1st of December, 2006, Tayuke reopened UO BETA, to a totally new group of people. The game's server was hosted on his desktop, and unlike the other BETA, the 2nd BETA seemed to be more organized, fun, and better. Updates were happing everyday, and there seemed to be some great support, from some of the BETA players. However, UO still ran into way too many program errors. After a bit of research, done by Tayuke, it seemed that the engine had been rushed way to fast, so fast as it have a few too many bugs that the engine developers didn't seem to have picked up.

Unfortinualy, Tayuke had to halt UO BETA again, and this time, switch to another engine. The official announcement was made on the 12 of January, 2006, with the game's server fully shutting down on the 18th. They then quickly switched to vbGORE, after a few weeks of research done by Tayuke.

[edit] Storyline

Side Note: This is only a draft storyline. A finished version will be released, closer to release date.

Its sunrise, and all you can see out from your window, is open sea. There is no land for miles, yet you are told you are about to land on an unknown island to you. Since boarding this boat, 3 months ago, after fleeing for your life from the great wars of your country, you are about to start a new life, life where you are told will be full of adventures. This will be a new experience for you, as you seemed to have lost all memory of the life on your home country…..

Suddenly, the boat slows down. Standing up, you open your cabins door, and move onto the deck, to see what this is all about. You gasp in amassment, as you see before you your new home. A place where you believe will change your life forever. A new begging, as the captain once said to you.

“Welcome to Universal Isle” someone’s says behind you. You turn around, only to find out that it’s only the Captain. “How do you know this place?” you inquire. “I’ve been here before.”, the captain replies, smiling Before you can ask anymore, he turns around, and starts giving out orders to his crew. You see the men preparing the ship to be ready to dock. After a few more minutes of watching, the ship stops, as ropes are tied around poles. Suddenly, a plank is made into a bridge onto the dock. “This is where you get off, my friend”, the captain says Slowly, you walk down onto the dock, where men are loading more crates onto the ship. As you watch, it seems clear that the ship isn’t stopping here. “Farewell my friend”, the captain shouts to you. “Til we meet again.” The ropes are loosened off the poles, and the ship sets course again, out into the sea. You find yourself, in an unknown country, with no knowledge of anything around, and no possessions except for the clothes on you, and sunddly relize that you still didn’t know the captains name, after asking him many times before…yet, he would always reply with, “You don’t need to know…yet.” What did he mean? And what should you do next, you wondered, as you started walking onto dry land….into, a new adventure……
